How did i lose weight

How did I lose weight?

After being asked this countless times by people both known and unknown-I have finally decided to write about it.

August 2010-Did this fabulous Art of Living course called YES!+
For those who haven’t heard of the course-it’s a 4 day course where you have the most fun you’ve ever had in your life compressed in a few hours-the exercises, the masti, the surya namaskars and of course the Magical SUDARSHAN KRIYA all rejuvenate you completely!
The people who know about the course and still haven’t done it-
WHAT are you waiting for?

It was the course that helped me lose weight-heck I lost 3 kilos during the course itself.
Apart from the surya namaskars and the kriya-the course gave me something which was instrumental
in helping me loose weight-a determination regarding food-I have always been a foodie-and I thought it was impossible for me to leave things like non veg, chocolates, sweets et cetera…- used to have chicken almost daily (even earned a nickname ‘Pasha’ which was a place where I used to eat).
After the course I voluntarily left all these without any trouble at all and believe me that has made all the difference. Its not as if I was forced to stop eating anything-it was voluntary. Eating non veg/overeating/eating spicy food-it disturbs your meditation, but I guess people who haven’t done the course wont understand.

Although I joined a gym-I still give all the credit to the Art of living course for making me loose weight. Diet is the single most important thing when you are trying to loose weight and boy was I strict with my diet, and thus I was able to loose 20 kgs and a total of 15 inches in about 3 months! Even my Gym trainer and my nutritionist were amazed at the rate at which I lost weight!!! My gym people have sent my story and some before and after photographs to their headquarters in Mumbai to be published in a catalog.

Below is the routine I followed -
M Y      ROUTINE -
·        45 minutes Kriya(Meditation)
·        13 Surya Namaskars
·        1-1.5 hours Gym
·        15 Mintues of walk after Lunch and Dinner
·        6 small meals a day rather than the usual 3

Credit goes to my close friend, fellow AOL meditator and co founder of this blog, Abhishek as he’s the one who got me into the course! There have been many other changes in yours truly and of course Abhishek as well…but then that’s a story for another day!

I had decided that I would gift myself a completely new avatar on my birthday and I did, gave away all of my old clothes and bought a complete brand new wardrobe-thanks a ton to mom n dad and my best friend Manali for that!!!

Life After Death And Light After Death- 1

So..Scared of death?? Well, Guruji says there was neither a beginning to you , nor there will be an end... It's like , life is spherical. So if you can figure out where the sphere's starting point is, you will solve this paradox.
Generally people who have had near death experiences see a light which draws them towards it.It becomes brighter and brighter and more luminous as you reach closer to it.Death is like a deep extended sleep. You sleep in the night and wake up in the morning. Similarly you sleep for extended period and wake up in another body. There's an obvious question as to why do we live at all.The answer is simple yet so tough to implement. Our task is to learn, to become God like through knowledge. We know so little. We have so much to learn.By knowledge we approach God , and then we can rest. Then we come back to teach and help others.
We have taken birth in the human form so many times. Each time we learn something and then come back to learn more things. It is fascinating that the way conceptions of death and after life change so much from lifetime to lifetime , and yet the experience of death itself is so uniform, so similar everytime. A conscious part of the body would leave the body around the moment of death, would float and would draw towards wonderful energizing light. That's why people who have near death experiences tell how they saw there own body being treated. The soul automatically passes on.Embalming , burial rituals or any procedure after death has nothing to do with it.
It's automatic , no preparations necessary. It's like walking through a just opened door.

" They tell me there are many gods; for god is in each one of us."

Life-Storms bogging you down??

The best solution to a problem is to have faith! Faith in the nature. Faith in the Master. Faith in God.
 Guruji very beautifully says-
"Know that nature has provided you the solution even before giving you the problem. When it snows, there are no bacteria since no herbs to heal you grow in that season. In the spring, the herbs come first and then the bugs. In the summer, the shade comes before the summer sun gets strong. So, nature takes good care of you."

You must keep this in mind that the origin of the solution is much much before the conception of the problem. When you see the problem as a challenge and you have faith in your heart that you are going to get through it , you suddenly find yourself much greater than the challenge. He says you are beyond an event , a probelem or time. So just have faith and see how the problem disappears. Know that you are taken care of.

God is Inside You....

Recently i had very good fortune of reading this masterpiece by Guruji :-

When you know you own God, you are not in a hurry to get something out of God. Your hurry to get something throws you off balance and makes you small. Have "eternal wait," infinite patience. When you have infinite patience, you will realize God belongs to you "

I felt so much at home after reading this.It was like having tonnes of cosmetics at your place and still you getting restless to get those which you think you don't have. You yourself are unaware of what magnificence you hold.Of what you have. And when you know that you already have everything in plenty , then you are at peace.Know that God is inside you.Joy is inside you.Having this thought at the back of your mind can bring that infinite patience and 'eternal wait'.Observe whenever you kiss a beloved , your eyes automatically close because you get back to the source inside you that kindles joy..So when you are observant enough to observe that the joy you are looking for is in something or some person , think again. You may be wrong...

The Art Of Living

I was someone, one of many
Looking for that special something
If there was any!
To set me right and get me back
From disappointment, pain, sorrows and anger attacks!!

So I did this cool workshop
A one of a kind 4 day course!
About which I’d heard from many a trusted source!!
I can still remember my time there very well!
As it is the only past memory upon which I dwell!!

Cause as they say the past is history
And the future is big mystery!
So take the gift that is the present
And always live in the moment!!

The workshop had many flavors
Some were absolutely-do as you’re told
Others-tried tested and old (ancient)!!
But the one thing that called out to inner me!
Which made me look inside for the first time and see!!

Sudarshan Kriya was the name of the exercise
Learnt by the intelligent, taught by the divine and practiced by the wise!!

To say it changed my life
Is an understatement of the highest degree!
So to very humbly describe my kriya experience
I want to say that it has set me free!!!

Giving it my 100% always
And aiming for the highest!
Two very simple pieces of advice
Which help you become one of the best!!

Good times and bad-its all part of the parcel
So smile a lot and don’t fret about past or future
As opposite values are complementary in nature!!

I learnt not to find intentions behind other’s actions!
And not to be a football of other’s opinions!!

Everyone can be emotionally and mentally at par
Just by accepting people and situations as they are!!
So don’t ever lose your smile as you live your life
Not taking but giving!!
And that in itself is the Art of Living!!!
